02/06 s/v Trouble Update: I’m in Staniel Cay. It’s known for the swimming pigs and Thunderball Grotto that was featured in the old James Bond movie Thunderball. I went to it at high tide and the current was really strong. At high tide you have to dive down then you come up in this large cave. There are holes at the top that let Iight in. Really fascinating. Usually, it’s very crowded, but since it was high tide and a strong current, I was the only one there. I looked at the swimming g pigs from a distance. The day before I was I. Cambridge, Exumas. This had two neat dive spots. One was a sunken small plane, in about 20 feet of water and the other was called The Aquarium. The Aquarium was just like swimming in an aquarium. Tons of small colorful fish swimming all around you, not scared, and not getting out of your way till you are inches from them. Really spectacular. I don’t have an underwater housing so I don’t have any photos.
That afternoon when I got back to the boat there was a 6-foot blacktip shark hanging right under my boat. Also, lots of large fish all over the anchorage, as it’s a national park. Tomorrow I head to Black Point Settlement, known for its awesome laundromat. I need to wash a few things. After BPS I’ll go on the Exumas Sound side and start my way south to Georgetown, Great Exumas.
