The remnants of Ida came through Annapolis. I was on a mooring and not too worried. The forecast was for a few squalls/thunderstorms, wind a maybe lots of rain. As Ida approached I watched on radar and it didn’t look too bad. As the storms started to come through it was mostly medium to heavy rain and a bit of wind, and some lightning off in the distance. It seemed that the worst of it was going to miss me. I did have my phone go off telling me there was a tornado warning and to seek shelter in the lowest part of your home. Hmm, so my bilge, maybe? But the sky looked OK and except for a brief 10-minute heavy downpour, it was mostly a non-event for me. The next morning brought nice cool air and I took off to the grocery store on my folding bike. That’s when I learned that a tornado touched down just a few miles from me. YIKES. I guess I lucked out on that one.
It’s been a quiet week here at the Annapolis Moorings. I’ve been cleaning up the boat from being in the yard and finished off a few small projects. The big highlight was getting a pump out today. Since I had replaced my “Composting” heads(Toilets) I now store all my waste in a “Holding” tank. This is what most boats do. But I can’t “Discharge” that waste into the Chesapeake. So you have to have a boat come alongside you or you go to a facility where they literally suck it out of your holding tanks. It’s not that bad. All my new plumbing seemed to be working fine as it went pretty smoothly.
I went and visited the parents at the Academy. It’s such a beautiful campus, and it was a great day to walk to the Columbarium.
I’m leaving the mooring here tomorrow to hopefully meet up with some friends I met in the Bahamas. This will be my first real trip for the season. I have to start a new Log Book as I filled the other one last season.
