01/25 s/v Trouble Update: Well the time in Eleuthera went by quickly. I had absolutely beautiful weather, calm seas, and great light air, lazy day sailing. Parts of Eleuthera have these high cliffs with homes overlooking the waters. Some had stairs carved in the rock face down to the water. It reminded me of photos of the villages in the Mediterranean on the cliffs overlooking the sea.
I was able to sail very close to the cliffs as the water was deep right up to them. It was fun sailing and looking at these homes. I’m now in Rock Sound Harbour.
A little weather came in, so I’m hunkered down in this nice bay at the southern end of the island. Tomorrow I jump across Exuma Sound, to a northern island of the Exumas called Highborne Cay. I’ll spend the night there, but in the morning I need to go to the island to the south called Norman Cay.
It has a natural “Hurricane Hole” in the middle, which I’ll try to get into at high tide as we have a big wind coming Thursday. Hopefully it won’t be crowded. I have not seen many cruisers, which has been great as I’d have anchorages all to myself, but bad for the economy here in the Bahamas. Tomorrow’s sail will be back to flying across the waves. I’ve been spoiled this past week with very flat water here in Eleuthera.
