0730 — Dropping lines at the marina and heading down the Berry Islands to Adlers Cay, approximately 36nm. It was a lazy sail down, which was welcome, as most other times I’ve done this, it’s been a bit rough. I had the anchor down in my usual spot by 1400 and enjoyed another beautiful sunset.

0755 — Anchor up, and we were off to Rose Island, which is next to Nassau. It was another easy sail, covering 39nm and anchoring by 1300. The holding here is always a bit suspect. It gets “sharky” here, but I jumped in and checked the anchor for the night. I watched another sunset before calling it a day and getting some sleep.

0645 — Today, we headed into the Exumas. I had a few shallow coral heads I needed to navigate around. Once I was clear of the hazards, I got the sails up and had, once again, another nice sail until the wind died out at noon. I ended up having to motor the rest of the way to Norman Island for the night.

0745 — I woke up to the sun peeking over Norman Island. It was going to be a light wind sail today, and my destination was unknown, but I was just going to see how far I could get in these light winds. It was a prime day to put up the screecher sail and just cruise down the Exumas. By noon, the wind was forward of me and dying. I ended up having to motor for a bit, but I made it to Black Point and had the anchor down by 1600. This left me enough light to go in and have a beer and burger at Lorraine’s Cafe.

Cruising Down The Exumas

0700 — Lee Stocking Island today. The wind cooperated, and I scooted down the islands and dropped anchor at Lee Stocking Island, Williams Bay, at 1220. I’d hang out here for a few days before heading into Georgetown. I could get some lobstering in and just relax after zooming down the islands.

0800 — Anchor up and pointed the bows towards Georgetown. Nice sailing into Elizabeth Harbour and getting the anchor down at Monument Bay, across from Georgetown, by 1300. There is a new restaurant in front of Monument. With all the changes in the harbour, Monument will get very crowded. But this early in the season, it was easy to find room to anchor. I’ll hang out here for a few days, reprovisioning and checking out the new restaurant, before heading over to Emerald Bay Marina, where I’ll keep Trouble while I head back to the US for Christmas.

1200 — I gave Emerald Bay a call to see if I could get in a couple of days early, as some big winds were coming, and the entrance to the marina can get treacherous with waves. I fueled up as I came in and got Trouble settled in her slip. It gets a surge in there, and with these big winds, I wanted to make sure Trouble was secure.

Sure, glad I came in early and didn’t have to navigate this
