Tight Ass in Port Annapolis

07/1 Looking for s/v Trouble Update: I took two days to get up to Annapolis. My overnight stop was in the Solomon Islands. The anchorage was tight and it took a few tries to get the anchor to hold where I wanted it to. I used a golf range finder my brother gave me to make sure I was centered between the two boats already anchored there. Hopefully my perception of distance gets better, but this device makes it a quick check that I’m far enough away from the other boats. I got up early for my departure to Port Annapolis. Their was a nice breeze and I set sail to sail out into the Bay. The breeze was the morning land breeze that died as I got into the middle of the bay. So I motor sailed most of the day up to Annapolis. The channel into where Port Annapolis is was tight and busy.  I got to where the marina and proceeded to hail the marina. They didn’t answer. I had another marina call and ask if I was the cat waiting out there, and then proceeded to tell me I was at the wrong marina. Ofta! I turned around and then saw Port Annapolis next to me in a VERY tight area. I got over there, and finally a worker helped me squeeze my fat ass into the narrow channel where the gantry was, that was pulling me out the next morning. They wanted me to back in, but with the cross breeze, I decided to deal with that in the morning. The next morning I was able to spin the boat with just the lines as there was no wind. I asked if they could pull me out before the afternoon thunderstorms came. We got Trouble out of the water, and blocked up in time before a very large storm with hard rain and lots of wind came through. It was so much, I got off the boat to take shelter, as it was blowing 50+ knots. Trouble did fine, no damage, and she got a good washing off. I started on my list of things to get done. One was to get the sails off and to the sail shop for some seasonal repairs.
