Annapolis Harbor Entertainment
I’ve been sitting here a while, being amused by all the antics that go on in the harbor. The Annapolis Yacht Club Youth sailing programs come out almost daily and are always entertainment for me at the end of the day.
Sailboat Show Load In
The load-in for the show is an orchestrated event that the organizers have honed over the years. Each boat must be brought in at a specific time as the floating docks are moved and built around the boats as they pack them in. I came back to Trouble with the 157 foot Mega Yacht, Arabella, backing in between my boat and another, to get to the floating docks.
Prime Spot Woes
Trouble has a prime spot for the Sailboat Show, but sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Being on the Spa Creek Channel the traffic never stops during the day. Boats are constantly going past Trouble. While it’s entertaining to watch, there can be a bit of wake bouncing at times.
Dreary Days
It’s been cloudy and dreary for the past week here. My solar panels have not been able to keep up the electric load. I’ve been starting my engines twice a day to top off the batteries. I need to do laundry, but it being so damp, I’m afraid it won’t dry out.
Packed Show
It was probably the most packed place I’ve been since the Pandemic. We were cautious with putting masks on anywhere we were inside. We did view a few boats but I really was not into seeing all the shiny new boats. It was great to talk to the different vendors and learn about more stuff to buy or fix on Trouble, but I’m not sure I will attend the show again next year. The closing day of the show was Monday. I went in for half a day, which was nice as the crowds of the weekend were gone and a lot of the vendors had a little more time to talk. My daughter Ava had come out for the show, and it was fun to hang out with her. I’m sure she got a little bored with me stopping to talk to all the vendors.
It’s Getting Cold
It’s getting down into the 40s in the morning. I’ve been digging out winter clothes that are buried in the boat. I’ll be getting Trouble ready to head south by the end of the month. Most of my itinerary to head south is in place. Now I just have to hope the weather cooperates.
