01/06 s/v Trouble Update: It is a new year! Ava and I had a quiet Christmas and New Year. We had hoped to go to Chubb Cay for New Years (High-end Marina south end of Great Harbour Cay) But they were very unresponsive in answering the phone or returning our calls. So they were either super busy or just flaky. So we just stayed put.
We explored all of the island, from the Drug Lords abandon home to the seaside caves. We ate at the Beach Club a few times, shopped at the grocery stores, and explored a few beaches. We did head out of the marina one day and overnight to “Make Water” (Convert seawater to fresh drinking water). It was a windy night on the anchor but pretty comfortable. It was nicer scenery than the marina and NO noseeums. We headed back in the next day as ANOTHER front was coming in. We also did a few dives but only one, on the last day, had any amount of fish to see. It was a great last day for her. We walked and took one bike to the airport instead of getting The Taxi. Her flight was late but finally came in. It unloaded and boarded in 15 minutes and she was off. I’ll leave Great Harbour Cay on the 11th and start heading further South, eventually ending in Georgetown, Great Exuma. In the meantime, I’ll get the boat cleaned up and try to reprovision, as two people aboard for two weeks used up a lot of food. The Mailboat comes in today, so I’ll head to the store and hopefully get some fresh veggies, bread, and other things
