05/26 Looking for s/v Trouble Update: Plans changed. On my way to Charleston, I reviewed the weather and decided I should make one big jump straight to be the Chesapeake Bay. A front is coming in and I thought this was my best course of action. I called and reserved a slip at a marina via the satellite phone. So I’m into my 2nd day of a 4 day trip off the coast. The wind has been light and I’ve been doing a lot of motor sailing (motoring with the sails up to get a little boost). I had full tanks and should be good. This morning there is no wind but it is supposed to pick up by noon. I’d really like to get the engines turned off. I’ve been running one engine at a time as a fuel conservation tactic. I’m estimating I’m burning about a gallon an hour doing this, running about 5 to 6 knots. It’s been a pretty pleasant passage so far with small waves and swells, but the sailing has been pretty light, hopefully, that changes today. I should get into the marina Friday morning just before the front comes in.
